Bugs!

Thanks to Karmen, I recently purchased a Centennial Lily not only to support/celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the University of Saskatchewan but because I'm a huge sucker for lilies. This hardy Asiatic lily should be well suited to prairie winters (I hope at least!). So I'm carefully watering and sunning my tiny little plant which is about 1-inch or so high and next thing you know I've got bugs. BUGS!!! Stupid little aphid-like thingies! There's nothing like minding your own business watching tv or something and to have something fly by within nanometres of your face. Next thing you know you're swatting at air and looking like an idiot. So now I'm madly trying to kill the stupid things before they hatch. Well, at least I should have some really pretty flowers when it blooms!! :)

Hey Karin!
Try putting an orange cup with water in it beside your lily. If plain water doesn't work, try adding some sugar or using honey. That should keep those pesky pests out of your face!

Hey! Where did you get the lily? I'd love one; they are so pretty, and yes, patriotic.

Thanks Dr. L., I'll try that!

Heather: You should be able to get them through the Dept. of Plant Sciences (Karmen got mine at Gardenscape). :)
